Drugs Crackdown in Sawley - Four young people caught smoking cannabis
in public areas in Sawley have all been prosecuted and their drugs taken away
and destroyed. PC Hannah says the taking of drugs in public areas would not
be tolerated and he urged anyone with information to report it anonymously to
him on 0845 123 3333 or to Crimestoppers on 0880 555 111.
Anti Social Behaviour - Problems with youngsters causing damage, is a situation the Police are monitoring and using anti-social legislation to help combat the problem. PC Hannah said residents needed to be aware that over the past month a small number of burglaries have taken place with thieves removing beading from rear double glazed windows/doors before removing the windows, gaining entry and stealing. If anyone sees anything suspicious, please report it as soon as possible on 0845 123 3333 or to Crimestoppers on 0880 555 111.
Halloween - Last year Sawley experienced a high number of anti-social
behaviour and damage-reported incidents. This year, warns PC Hannah, Police
will be operating with an anti-social police carrier to react any such incident
and plan to deal with all incidents in an effective manner.

More Police Support - At the end of October/ early November two new uniformed Community Police Support Officers are being allocated to Sawley to help PC Hannah in his day-to-day duties. The officers are there to help the Police and will act as PC Hannah's eyes and ears.

Unlicensed mini motor bikes are a current major problem on our local parks and roads with almost every area in the Parish expressing concern at the mostly youngsters riding these machines. “I want to assure members of the public that we are doing all we can to eradicate this problem and urge all sightings to be reported to the Police.”
Leaving articles on show in your car is never a good thing particularly in view of the recent increase in thefts of and from motor vehicles. Hot spots appear to be Trent Lock Golf Club and vehicle car parks near to the Navigation pub. “If you see any suspicious activity, please report it to the Police immediately on 0115 946 1672 or 0177 357 0100.”
